Assoc. Professor Dr. Atty. Petar Iliev is a Lawyer of the Year Award Winner. The Distinction is the most prestigious Award of Excellence in the legal profession in Bulgaria. The Best Lawyer of the Year Award was conferred upon Dr. Petar Iliev by Professor Dr. Ognian Gerdjikov who is a former Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria and President of the Bulgarian Parliament, Professor of Civil and Commercial Law and Chairman of the professional award jury at the National Justice Awards Ceremony supported by the International Association of Lawyers and all Bulgarian Bar Associations. Dr. Petar Iliev, Attorney-at-Law, is the first and only Attorney-at-Law who has participated as a defense lawyer and legal representative in a court session of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria regarding an MP’s mandate. The constitutional case was won and legal victory gained by a unanimous Constitutional court judgement.
Attorney-at-Law Petar Iliev is an Associate Professor in Law (Public Law), Doctor of Law (Constitutional Law) and legal scholar. He is an author of several books and scholarly monographs in the area of Law and more than sixty academic articles, studies and other publications on various legal matters. Dr. Petar Iliev is a member of academic research projects and teams on various legal topics and also an academic supervisor of legal research groups in academic projects supported by the Council of Europe and international organizations, as well as a Lecturer and Presenter at more than thirty academic conferences and also a Chairman and Moderator at a great number of business conferences focused on various legal and economic topics.
Assoc. Professor Dr. Atty. Petar Iliev is an Honorary Consul of Barbados and Head of the Consulate of Barbados in the Republic of Bulgaria. He is a member of the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria which is a member of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), the most prestigious global organization of Consuls recognized by the United Nations.
Dr. Petar Iliev, Attorney-at-Law, is a Founder and Chairman of several well-respected and renowned business organizations – the Canadian Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, Bulgarian Economic Chamber and Caribbean Bulgarian Business Club. He is also a former Deputy Chairman of the British Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce. Within those organizations he has been a team leader of many international projects on various legal and economic issues.
Assoc. Professor Dr. Atty. Petar Iliev has got his Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.) at the Law Faculty of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski”, Republic of Bulgaria, graduating with the highest honours and highest distinction (100 %) as the Best student who is the First in his graduating LL.M. class and receiving a distinction award (golden insignia) bestowed upon him by the Rector of the University in recognition of his highest academic achievements and excellence.
Dr. Petar Iliev, Attorney-at-Law, has got specializations in Jurisdiction, Public Administration and International Law and International Relations, graduating with the highest honours and highest distinction (100 %) as the Best student who is the First in his graduating class at the Law Faculty of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski”, Republic of Bulgaria. He has also got international specialization (Certificate) in Common Law, English Commercial Law and EU Law at the University of Buckingham, UK and international practical specialization in American Corporate and Commercial Law in New York, USA, both of them completed with honours and distinction too.
Petar Iliev, Attorney-at-Law, has got his secondary education at the First English Language High School in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria, graduating with the highest honours and highest distinction (100 %) as the Best student who is the First in his graduating class
He was a Juror in the National Student Scientific Essay Competition, organized by the National Law Students’ Association ELSA Bulgaria and a Jury member in a student academic research project consisting of legal research essays and their presentation at an academic conference, supported by the Law Faculty of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski”.
Dr. Petar Iliev is a former President of the Management Board of the National Law Students’ Association ELSA Bulgaria, a member of the European Law Students’ Association ELSA International, which is the largest and most renowned law students’ organization in the world. In his capacity as President of the Management Board of ELSA Bulgaria Mr. Iliev was a chairman, moderator, coordinator, lecturer and speaker at many international conferences, forums, events, projects and seminars in various spheres of law, as well as an organizer and coordinator of аn official visit of the representatives of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Sofia and their presentations and meetings with Bulgarian law students and young lawyers.
Assoc. Professor Dr. Atty. Petar Iliev was an academic supervisor of the legal research group of the National Law Students’ Association ELSA Bulgaria in an academic project supported by the Council of Europe.
